EFR

Overview

The Emergency First Response (EFR) is a comprehensive CPR and First Aid program, following the most current layperson emergency care standards, designed and introduced by Emergency First Response Corp., a PADI corporate affiliate. The EFR Primary Care (CPR) course assumes that Emergency Medical Service (EMS) is available and the emergency responder’s role is to provide emergency care for immediately life-threatening injuries and illnesses. The EFR Secondary Care (First Aid) course assumes that EMS is unavailable or delayed and covers secondary patient assessment and first aid.

Certification/Recognition

Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care courses are based on internationally recognized medical guidelines for emergency care – produced through the consensus view of the Basic Life Support (BLS) Working Group of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR).

Emergency First Response courses meet the CPR/First Aid requirement for the United States Coast Guard merchant mariner licensure or for participants seeking certification through the American Council on Exercise (ACE).

Other Recognition

Emergency Responders will receive formal recognition for using their EFR skills and trainings in an emergency situation or to help someone in need. Please send the information describing the action to Emergency First Response Corp. With permission, their stories may be posted on the Emergency First Response website and generally shared with the Emergency Responder community. These examples will help inspire and motivate others to use their skills when situation arise.
